Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Developer for our Information Technology site located in Tranent. This is a remote based role, with ad hoc travel to Tranent.


This role will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with other members of the LIMS team to understand user requirements and prioritize work
  • Support LabWare LIMS
  • Working closely with other IT teams to support functionality of LIMS
  • Configure and customize LabWare LIMS
  • Acts as liaison between internal laboratory users and vendor to address various system issues and user requirements
  • Work closely with the LIMS development team to understand the size and scope of new user requirements/requests
  • Propose system improvements to the site leaders and gather feedback
  • Evaluate product enhancements and capabilities, in addition to implementing upgrades as required
  • Troubleshoot LIMS, in conjunction with other LIMS users, to address immediate end user needs

The following are minimum requirements related to the LIMS Developer position.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A/B.S.) or equivalent required:
  • Extensive experience developing, configuring and supporting LIMS systems
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good technical and business analysis skill set
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated working understanding of laboratory operations and practices
  • Strong organizational and/or project management skills
  • Ability to contribute to multiple projects for different business stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience with SQL Server databases and writing queries
  • Proven ability to design and build Crystal Reports 
  • Experience with working within structured software development life cycles
  • Must currently have, or obtain within 6 months of date of hire, up-to-date training on:
    • LIMS Administration 1
    • LIMS Administration 2
    • Advanced Configuration Using LIMS Basic
    • Understanding the Database and SQL Queries

The salary will be dependent on the candidate’s skills and experience.
