Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Scientist 2 for a contract position in a mid-size pharma/biotech company centrally located within the Great Boston biotech hub. The initial term of the position is one year, contract can be renewed on yearly basis, and has the possibility of converting to a permanent position.

 

The successful candidate for this position will have a strong background in small molecule bioanalysis utilizing LC-MS/MS. Experience with large molecule bioanalysis is a strong plus. Assays are often developed for early stage discovery and the ability to develop novel approaches is essential, thus requiring a solid understanding of the analytical methodology for complex modalities from small molecules to proteins and peptides. This individual will be responsible for scientifically-sound planning and execution of experiments in a timely manner.  The position requires a commitment to the delivery of quality data, colleague interactions, independent hands-on method development and sample analysis.


Successful candidates in this position will:

 

  • Capable of extraction and analysis of biological samples, including extraction and instrumental analysis as well as data generation, review and presentation. 
  • Strong experience in the bioanalysis of small and large molecules from biological samples, including sample prep and instrumental analysis as well as data generation, review and presentation.
  • Prior experience with other ADME assays such as plasma protein binding and tissue partitioning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with colleagues at various levels.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to critically analyze and verify data prior to data release.
  • Document study data and reports in an accurate, organized and timely manner.
  • Overall excellent organizational skills with attention to details. 
  • Able to trouble shoot instrument issues and preform regular maintenance.

 

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Scientist 2 position:


Education:  Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.)  with emphasis in Biochemistry or an equivalent scientific related discipline. Related Master's degree (M.S./M.A.) preferred. 
Experience:  at least 6 years previous directly related laboratory experience in large molecule bioanalysis by LC/MS/MS with emphasis on siRNA, ASOs, proteins, antibodies and complex modalities.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Other:  Exceptional method development and assay troubleshooting skills.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a team environment. Able to prioritize work and meet deadlines under minimal direction. Adept in use of standard software including Microsoft® Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. and with standard laboratory calculations. Strong proficiency in the use of analytical instrumentation, specifically with AB Sciex LC-MS/MS instruments. Proficiency with Water gTOP and Thermo QE HRMS. Proficiency in the use of BA software including Analyst, Discovery Quant, MultiQuant, and familiar with automation platforms such as Hamilton and multiplexing system.
