Job Summary

We are seeking a Manager, Lease Accounting and Reporting to join our Corporate Accounting team in Wilmington, MA. 

 

The Manager, Lease Accounting and Reporting will collaborate with multiple CRL organizations obtaining, analyzing, accounting and reporting on CRL’s global lease population. Key responsibilities include: implementation of a new lease accounting and reporting software tool and ensuring the ongoing accuracy of records; keeping current with U.S. GAAP lease accounting changes with a comprehensive understanding of ASC 842; standardization, documentation and communication of lease approval and accounting processes; and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations. 

  • In coordination with Internal Controls, develop and implement key controls associated with lease accounting and reporting.
  • Ensure the enterprise-wide lease population is complete, including embedded leases.
  • Collaborate with Technical Accounting team on lease abstraction process, including reviewing and identifying key lease terms and uploading into lease software application.
  • Coordinate translation of lease agreements.
  • Develop and document monthly global lease accounting, reconciliation and reporting processes.
  • Coordinate and provide training on ASC 842 and lease accounting and reporting software.
  • Manage the administration of global lease accounting software including master data updates, foreign exchange rate uploads, accuracy of calculations and output journal entries.
  • Work across enterprise to gather information to ensure proper accounting and reporting of leases.
  • Oversee lease abstraction process, including entering and reviewing critical lease data in system. Interpret lease contracts and identify key terms.
  • Lease determination and classification in accordance with U.S. GAAP with supporting documentation.
  • Manage monthly lease accounting, reconciliation and reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with international entities to satisfy any statutory accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure completeness in the lease accounting process, including reconciliations between the general ledger and lease accounting software.
  • Develop and manage the preparation of quarterly and annual lease accounting reporting packages to support U.S. GAAP financial statements.
  • Maintain technical proficiency in lease accounting and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and international statutory requirements.
  • Provide cross-training within the Global Fixed Asset group
  • Review merger and acquisition related operating and finance leases and adjust opening balance as needed.
  • Manage the integration of acquisitions onto lease accounting and reporting software.
  • Partner with IT to maintain lease accounting and reporting software interfaces and oversee future interfaces with general ledger systems.
  • Manage day-to-day staff activities.
  • Prepare and communicate annual staff reviews.
  • Approve journal entries, reconciliations and CER close outs.
  • Assist with physical fixed asset counts
  • All other duties assigned

 

The following are minimum requirements of the Manager, Lease Accounting and Reporting position.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in finance/accounting or related discipline.
  • 7+ years related experience and/or training. Prior management experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
