Job Summary

Charles River Insourcing Solutions is seeking a Facility Supervisor, for their client located in Waltham, MA.  The candidate will oversee and coordinate the daily activities within the Vivarium . Maintains performance levels consistent with and according to company standards and client requirements.

•    Supervise the daily activities of staff conducting husbandry and study support activities in the Vivarium. 
•    Create, assign and monitor work schedules for daily husbandry and study support assignments; assign weekend, holiday and on-call coverage.
•    Monitor and document task completion and deviations from defined KPI’s and submit monthly to CRL Management in a timely fashion to support contract deliverables.
•    Coordinate with Client Management ensuring documentation of all corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures are recorded. 
•    Provide timely, concise and effective communication regarding all facility utilities, infrastructure, process equipment, and supply chain and housing system issues to Client Management.
•    Inspect animal housing systems to ensure proper setup and function.
•    Coordinate the movement of animals throughout the facility and assign housing locations for receipt of new animals.
•    Participate in the development of projections for equipment, supplies and personnel needed to effectively operate the Vivarium.
•    Participate in the development and implementation of site-specific Guidance Documents. Oversee adherence to all site operational procedures and all required documentation related to the Vivarium.
•    Supervise record maintenance. Generate and submit internal and external reports in the required formats and time frames; report to Client and CR Management on operations related issues.
•    Conduct routine quality assurance inspections to confirm that room sanitation, organization and cleanliness meets and/or exceeds defined expectations.
•    Conduct quality assurance inspections to confirm that staff is adhering to established room/cage/rack sanitation schedules.
•    Oversee:  Animal water maintenance and quality controls; quarterly water sample collection and lab submissions; census collection and reconciliation under Client Management oversight.
•    Oversee the use of the SteraMist system for conducting room, cage wash and equipment decontamination as needed.
•    Participate in periodic meetings with CRL Operations staff to keep them informed of current and future projects, policies and procedures. 
•    Assist in any contract related activity, as assigned by Client and Operations Specialist, to complete the required work.
•    At the direction of Client Management, participate in disaster and business recovery activities and other initiatives as needed.
•    Maintain required attendance level and adherence to work schedule in accordance with required staffing levels ensuring assigned duties are completed. Maintain close contact with CRL Operations and Client Management regarding time off.

Job Qualifications


•    Education:  Bachelor of Science in Animal Science or related field preferred.  Experience:  Minimum five (5) years in a laboratory animal facility of which two to three yearsare supervisory or management experience. 
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements as listed above.  
•    Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the LATG level required. CMAR preferred.
•    Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite and database record keeping in support of laboratory animal operations is required.
