Job Summary

We are seeking a Veterninary Medicine - Technical / Scientific for our CRADL Site in South San Francisco. The following individula will manages, administers and coordinates the health care and maintenance of research animals. Provides leadership and technical expertise to staff and clients for policy and decision making.  Provides veterinary consulting services in support of the Insourcing Solutions, CRADL business unit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Supports and participates in the health care and maintenance of research animals at CRADL. Utilizing knowledge of contemporary laboratory animal medicine and science and veterinary clinical medicine and resources, collaborates with research investigators and CRADL staff.   Ensure facilities are in compliance with local regulations. Write, review and update veterinary care SOP's and guidance documents as required. Work with CRADL management to establish veterinary and animal care standards. Participate in the training of the CRADL personnel and clients on technical procedures and veterinary techniques as appropriate. Provide clinical and surgical support to facility staff and clients. Provide technical advice to facilitate protocol development. Assist clients with development of research protocols and IACUC submissions. Provide veterinary reviews for IACUC protocols. May serve as a voting member of the IACUC committee. In collaboration with other CRADL staff members, assist clients in the refinement of animal care and use techniques.  Consistently interact and communicate with investigators and research staff during ongoing research studies, monitor results and recommend modifications or provide training as needed. Confers with clients and staff regarding the type of animal research conducted and provides advice on veterinary clinical considerations, animal health and welfare, training, procedures, numbers and/or care of the animals. May supervise veterinary technician(s) or other veterinary staff, including assisting with recruitment writing timely annual performance reviews, and encouraging professional development.  Provides veterinary medical services in support of the health and welfare of the animals housed within CRADL or at customer sites.  Administers, or directs the administration, of treatment(s) as appropriate.Assist Attending Veterinarian in any adverse event or non-compliance investigations. Manage site DEA activities and process.  May involve travel to client sites for consulting or other business purposes.

Job Qualifications

Education:  Work requires completion of an accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program or a certificate of training accepted by the AVMA.

Experience:  Minimum of 1-3 years related experience in the field of Laboratory Animal medicine required.

Certification/Licensure:  Licensure (DVM) to practice medicine in a state or territory of the United States is required.
