Job Summary

 

Perform a variety of master-level skilled electrical tasks to repair, install and replace equipment and materials. Perform other semi-skilled tasks in the general maintenance of the physical plant and provide work direction to others performing electrical projects.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Install and repair electrical materials, equipment, and machinery working from blueprints, drawings, lay-outs, or other specifications.

· Inspect, isolate problems, and repair defects in lighting, electrical wiring and equipment using motorized machinery, hand tools, and electrical testing equipment. May require calculation of electrical loads and feeds.

· Dismantle equipment/fixtures and plan systematic replacement or repair of accessories and parts and return equipment to operation.

· Oversee electrical tasks being performed by other department personnel.

· Inspect completed electrical work for quality, safety, and proper operation.

· Coordinate maintenance work with other departments and divisions; maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.

· Periodically perform preventative maintenance programs as required.

· Perform other semi-skilled tasks as assigned to assist in the general maintenance of the physical plant.

· Respond to emergencies as needed. Provide 24-hour on-call maintenance coverage, as scheduled in rotation.

· May perform waste vacuum maintenance.

· Take proper safety precautions and utilize appropriate safety gear/equipment in the performance of all duties.

· Perform all other related duties as assigned.

The pay rate for this position is between $40 and $45 an hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
 

Job Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) and trade school diploma.

· Experience: Four to six years related experience required.

· An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

· Certification/Licensure: Valid electrician’s license (where required by state).

· Other: None.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
