Job Summary

We are seeking a Laboratory Animal Technician for our Insourcing Solutions site located Esch Sur l'Alzette (LUX).
Main responsibilities related to the position are the management of genetically modified colonies in isolators.

Job Qualifications

  • Performs daily colony health examinations and clinical observations of sick animals prior to reporting adverse findings to Clinical Veterinarian.
  • Assist with maintaining Rodent Colony Health surveillance program and submission.
  • Provides technical support (e.g., Management of genetically modified colonies in isolators, animal handling and restraint, weaning, tail snips, ear tagging, collect blood and other tissues samples, perform injections, treatments, surgical preparation and post-operative observations, timed mating, microinjection, and assist with research procedures as directed).
  • Familiarity with and ability to use various forms of anaesthetic and the means of application.
  • Actively interacts with management, facility veterinarian (s) and investigators as required to solve customer requests, inquiries, and complaints and to provide technical assistance.
  • Provides environmental enrichment feed and other enrichment stimuli and / or provide behavioural assessments.
  • As needed, performs animal husbandry - which can include feed, watering, and cleaning cages as required.
  • Prepares written reports, charts, logs and inventories as requested by Supervisor. Water and feed the animal colonies
  • Carry out routine husbandry and housekeeping i.e., clean the cages, the area and tools thoroughly following strict hygiene procedures

SKILLS REQUIRED

We are looking for a candidate trained in the field of laboratory animal science.
Frequent weekend hours are required.
Fluency in English and or French
Availability to work in Esch sur Alzette

Availability to start part time  contract in April 2023
