Job Summary

 

We are looking for an Animal Care Technician III (Technical Support) to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Bethesda, MD.

What impact you will have!

The duties of the Animal Care Technician III (Technical Support) are to provide customer service to research staff and complete service requests, in addition to performing daily animal health observations, and/or animal husbandry duties, to maintain the quality and health of the animals.  

 

You will also: 

  • Maintain accurate records of things like animal breeding and health, housing, or support areas; receiving, inspecting, and housing incoming animals; and assist with receipt, stocking, and maintenance of supply inventories. 
  • Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of multiple animal species. 
  • May become involved in breeding and weaning procedures. 
  • Operate required equipment (including an anesthesia machine). 
  • Technical support includes monitoring anesthetized rodents, tail snips, ear tagging, blood and/or tissue collection, time-mating, blood collection, clinical and post-op care, and observations. 
  • Rodent breeding colony management, including rodent identification, and assisting with research procedures. 
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation of work areas and equipment. You will also assist veterinary staff with blood collection, clinical and post-operative care, and observations as needed. 

 

Other duties will include monitoring personnel and equipment in facility, room, or other controlled areas; general housekeeping; in addition to reviewing, comprehending, and complying with all SOPs and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area.

Who are we looking for?

A candidate that possesses a high school diploma or general education degree is required; minimum of two years of experience performing basic animal care required. LAT eligibility required; LAT certification preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. 

 

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00 USD per hour.  Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
