Job Summary

We are seeking a Project Manager 2 for our Insourcing Solutions site located in Bethesda, MD.


The following are responsibilities related to the Project Manager 2:


•    Ensures staff operates and maintains equipment and supplies according to SOPs.
•    Assists employees with E-QIP, facility access, timekeeping, and maintains badge spreadsheet.
•    Ensure the proper inventory, care, feeding and delivery of animals, sanitation of the equipment and facilities, the procurement and storage of supplies and the maintenance of related equipment and facilities.
•    Investigates personnel problems and develops performance improvement plans.
•    Provides data entry/data base report generation for computerized systems which monitor facility internal environmental parameters, security, or other animal facility monitoring and management requirements.
•    Provides quality assurance to include animal health surveillance, monitoring of the effectiveness of facility sanitation, cage washing and autoclaving procedures, monitoring of incoming animal shipments for container integrity and animal health, monitor the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
•    Assists with oversight and/or schedules the maintenance of the facility and all animal care equipment through facility supervisors and animal care staff to ensure proper maintenance, sanitation and operation.
•    Design, plan, organize, and execute disaster preparedness documentation and emergency procedures. 
•    As needed, assists with the animal care and technical weekend and holiday schedule to ensure that animal care is provided to all species in accordance with animal welfare regulations and guidelines.
•    Participates in the on-call rotation with the supervisors.
•    Interacts with client representatives to facilitate the resolution of problems related to the allocation of space, use of equipment, efficient use of personnel, diagnosis of and control of disease, provisions of animal care and adequate veterinary care.
•    Assist with technical trainer and supervisors’ development of course content and materials for training and continuing education of the animal care staff to achieve AALAS certification.


The following are minimum qualifications related to the Project Manager 2 position:

•    Education:   Bachelor of Science in Animal Science or related field required.
•    Experience:  Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a multiple labor category animal facility. 
•    Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level (LATG). CMAR can be considered in lieu of BS. ILAM preferred. 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
