Cell and gene therapies are already significantly changing the clinical landscape for many patients. Cell therapies are unique in that they generally involve extracting cells from patients or donors then altering them to target in many cases specific cancer types providing a highly personalized therapy. Cell and gene therapies offer the potential for one-time curative treatments which differs from many traditional medicines. They have the potential to address not only complex diseases but also many rare, ultra-rare, and orphan disorders for which there are limited to no treatment options.
