Job Summary

BASIC SUMMARY:  
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Tax Analyst for the US and Canada to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both US and Canadian payroll tax regulations. The analyst will be responsible for ensuring compliance and accuracy in payroll tax processing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Manage payroll tax compliance for both US and Canada, including federal, state/provincial, and local jurisdictions.
  • Review payroll data to ensure accurate calculation and withholding of taxes according to relevant regulations.
  • Review payroll tax returns and remittances accurately and on time.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to payroll taxes from employees, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Work closely with payroll provider.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll tax laws and regulations in both the US and Canada and communicate any impact to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation of payroll tax liabilities.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed.
  • Participate in payroll system upgrades and implementations, providing expertise on tax-related requirements.
  • Conduct periodic audits of payroll tax processes to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience: 5 or more years’ experience in payroll tax administration, with specific experience in both US and Canadian payroll tax. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Strong understanding of US and Canadian payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. 
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, detail oriented. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional Certification: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certification / Licensure: Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification is a plus.

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $85,000/yr. - $105,000/yr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
