We are looking for a Supervisor to join our Insourcing Solutions team in Watertown, MA

What you will do!
Oversee, provide and facilitate the day-to-day operations of the vivarium, husbandry and technical staff and act as primary liaison for on-site clients and staff for research needs. Collaborate with clients and senior Insourcing Solutions management to maintain operational performance levels consistent with and according to client expectations and company standards. 
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and review work of staff as necessary to ensure accuracy and adherence to SOPs.
  • Approve timecards, coordinate vacation/time off schedules, and provide emergency animal care or technical coverage as needed. 
  • Interview and select qualified non-exempt personnel; recommend personnel actions, including hiring, promotions and raises.  Partner with HR to investigate problems and provide timely coaching, training and corrective actions. 
  • Identify training and development needs of direct reports.  Assist in the development, implementation and delivery of site-specific training programs; ensure that direct reports receive facility orientation, and necessary on-the-job training.  Oversee maintenance of group training manual and training records.
  • Record and compile required data for animal care maintenance, submit work orders for improvements in facility, manage quality control testing and the sentinel program. 
  • Schedule all required vivarium equipment preventative maintenance and calibration.
  • Oversee animal orders, receive new animals, and coordinate movement of animals throughout the facility. 
  • Review and analyze operational needs and make recommendations to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of animal care and services provided to clients.
  • Develop, write and implement standard operating procedures for the care and enrichment of laboratory animals and the operation of the facility.  
  • Evaluate animal environments for compliance and site preparedness for regulatory inspections by AAALAC, IACUC, company SOP’s, and other relevant agencies.
  • Respond to all client requests, inquiries, and concerns about animal care and facilities operations in timely manner.
  • Create and submit written reports to management as requested. 

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related field required. Five or more years of successful performance as a supervisor in a research animal husbandry and welfare role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. LAT certification required. LATG preferred.  

 

The pay range for this position is $95,000 USD annually.  Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
