Job Summary

We are seeking an Sr. Director Testing Services for our Information Technology Group.  This position can be located at any Charles River site within North America.   

 

The CRL IT organization is looking for an energetic professional to build and lead a Testing Services practice within Project Delivery. In this role, the Sr. Director Testing Services would have responsibility of overseeing the planning, preparation and execution of comprehensive application/system testing for Project Delivery and Service Delivery initiatives. The Sr. Director Testing Services will work closely with other IT service areas to deliver: 

  • Build and manage a Testing Services organization capable of executing the tactics:
    • Develop comprehensive test plans for approved Business Technology projects.
    • Execute regression & performance testing.
    • Support the creation of integration & user acceptance test scripts.
    • Maintain regression test scripts for defined systems/applications.
    • Coordinate testing activities for select approved Business Technology projects.
  • Encourage activities and dialogue to motivate team members to increase the overall performance of the team.
  • Develop team members so they can perform and deliver the best possible results.
  • Communicate mid and long-term strategy and goals of the organization and any relevant background necessary to understand task assignment.
  • Lead team by providing a clear articulation of direction and expectations; Control the level of work in progress to optimize flow for each direct report, adjusting to changing conditions.
  • Set Testing Services standards, templates and tools to be used for application/system testing within IT.
  • Proactively work with leaders in the field of application/system testing to understand trends and best practices in this area.
  • Work with peers to appropriately coordinate and communicate activities in alignment with overall corporate and IT strategic intent.
  • Adhere to pertinent regulatory requirements and to company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Manage financial budgets and forecasts to remain within commitments while achieving goals.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned. 

 

The following are minimum requirements for the Sr. Director Testing Services position:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience leading a Testing Services practice and knowledge of testing tools.
  • Experience in application/systems testing with knowledge of best practices and related tools.
  • Effective communication skills for large, multi-national audiences.
  • Experience managing budgets, understanding of customer value.
  • Understanding of and/or experience with Theory of Constraints (TOC).
  • Experience and/or understanding of Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM).
  • Management acumen – Solid understanding and demonstrated ability to:
    • Build and manage a high performing team.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including collaboration, influencing & aligning
    • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
    • Relationship building
    • Consulting skills
  • Ability to travel as needed, both domestically and internationally; should not exceed 25% travel per calendar year.
