Job Summary

We are seeking a Lab Operations Co-op for our Procurement business to be located at our Wilmington, MA site. The Lab Operations Co-op position is in support of key Lab Operations procurement projects including implementation of Scientific Services technology platform, site transition support for supplies and consumables category and supply base rationalization.  Candidates should have scientific background such as chemistry, biology or bio-chemistry, strong data analytics and a desire to learn.

The Lab Operations Co-op will be responsible for:

  • Provide support for Lab Operations
  • Support the roll out of marketplace platforms such as Science Exchange or Scientist.com
    • Capture outsourcing requirements from scientists and ensure that the platform will support
    • Work with Procurement Process Improvement to ensure that system support is fully tested and functional
  • Provide support with rationalization of supplier catalogs to drive spend to preferred suppliers and reduce the tail spend suppliers
  • Provide support for implementation of Vendor Managed Inventory at key sites
  • Leverage spend analytics to identify consolidation opportunities; understand total cost of ownership and cost drivers, analyze product/service specifications to identify rationalization opportunities; analyze demand and spend to identify patterns and reduction opportunities 
  • Analyze market intelligence to build business cases and cost models to identify and quantify improvement opportunities for both sourcing and non- sourcing – e.g., demand management, process improvements, insource vs. outsource, et
  • Collaborate with cross functional business partners and site procurement teams to identify and highlight areas of potential opportunity, value and efficiencies

The following are the requirements related to the Lab Operations Co-op position.

  • Scientific background is preferred
  • Graduate level preferred, but not a must
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills
