Job Summary

We are seeking an IT Purchasing Co-op to support our IT Procurement function to be based at our facility in Wilmington, MA. The IT Purchasing Co-op position is in support various IT Procurement functions including software license and contract tracking and renewals, procurement integration and supplier relationship management.  Candidates should possess the following capabilities; strong data analytics, ability to read and understand contracts, good communication skills and a desire to learn.

The IT Purchasing Co-op will be responsible for:

  • Provide support for IT Procurement Operations
  • Performs tracking and maintains a follow-up system for renewal of agreements and associated maintenance and for monitoring compliance with key requirements and dates.
  • Supports IT Asset Management: Tracks license purchases and overall inventories and business demand for key applications to support compliance and optimization of licensing levels vs. utilization. 
  • Supports the IT procure-to-pay process including requisitioning, order placement, invoice discrepancy identification and resolution for recurring and one-time technology purchases, particularly software. 
  • Provide support for Purchasing post-merger integration activities: 
  • Support development of consolidated inventory and profile of suppliers and contracts. 
  • Support analysis and identification of synergies and consolidation/rationalization opportunities.
  • Support prioritization and follow-up action on the highest priority tasks. 
  • Provide support for the implementation of improved supplier management tools and processes.

The following are the requirements related to the IT Purchasing Co-op position.

  • Willingness to learn the Charles River business so that appropriate contacts can be made for data collection and decision validation.
  • Ability to understand Charles River purchasing requirements to develop cross-functional data linkages and support go-forward business processes.
  • Process understanding to assist with design and implementation
  • Ability to research, assess and summarize key findings from written literature/contracts. 
  • Ability to compile, cleanse/correct and analyze quantitative data from multiple data sources with tools such as MS Excel or MS Access. 
  • Experience or ability to quickly learn and use document management systems.
