Job Summary

We are seeking a Domestic Tax Director to support our Corporate Tax team located in Wilmington, MA. 

 

The Domestic Tax Director is responsible for the Company’s US Federal and State tax reporting and compliance.  Manage all tax accounting as it relates to CRL’s US operations, including the quarterly ETR, year-end provision, provision to return adjustments, and maintenance of the US tax related balance sheet accounts. Manage ongoing federal and state audits. Review investment agreements for potential venture capital funds. Assist with due diligence for domestic-based acquisition and divestitures. Lead integration of US-based acquisition. Interact with departments and personnel in the US to understand the business and bring the proper tax resources to bear on the operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all Federal and State tax returns, estimated payments and extensions are complete, proper and timely filed.
  • Ensure that all Federal and State tax accounting as it relates to the US is completed in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Lead  US Federal and State tax planning initiatives.
  • Monitor changes in Federal and State tax law and assess impact to CRL.
  • Prepare forecasts of significant permanent items and deferred tax adjustments for monthly ETR calculations and quarterly tax provisions.
  • Manage tax compliance process including review and approval of all Federal and State income tax returns and related workpapers, schedules and disclosures.
  • Manage Federal and State estimates and extension process ensuring timely and adequate payments to avoid penalties.
  • Ensure proper computation of U.S. taxable income. 
  • Manage outside consultants for various projects as needed.
  • Manage year-end provision process, including all computations and tax stream input for US entities. Review the US Federal and State provision to return adjustments and impact on ETR.
  • Review international computations and disclosures including all forms and related disclosures. This includes estimated ETR impact of these items.
  • Oversee the accuracy of the Federal tax depreciation calculations. 
  • Oversee the state apportionment process. Ensure compliance with the laws and regulations of each state.
  • Manage the maintenance of US tax related balance sheet accounts including payable and all deferred tax asset and liability accounts.
  • Manage US Federal and State audits including addressing inquiries from tax authorities; determining whether there is exposure and assessing the reserve needed under ASC 740.
  • Assist with due diligence on U.S based acquisitions and divestitures, reviewing data room documents and assisting with structuring and funding needs
  • Lead post-acquisition integration for all U.S. based acquisitions, including filing pre-acquisition and stub period returns, opening balance sheet calculations, and communications with prior owners.
  • As needed, review agreements for future venture capital fund investments and partnership agreements.
  • Assist with domestic tax planning and accounting methods including, UNICAP, Sec. 162(m), R&D Credits, and State tax matters.
  • Manage and develop staff to complete all of the above in a timely and effective manner.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

 

The following are the minimum requirements for the Domestic Tax Director. 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.  Masters in Taxation or J.D. preferred.
  • Eight to ten years directly related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • CPA is preferred.
