Job Summary

The CRL IT organization is looking for an energetic professional to lead a Production Management Service area within Project Delivery. In this role, they would have responsibility for project reporting, project analysis, and project systems used to manage Business Technology projects in a Critical Chain Project Management environment. The Director, Production Management will work closely with the Director, Project Management and other IT service areas to deliver business technology with speed, quality and at the best possible cost. Through excellence in Project Delivery, they will help to achieve and maintain a high level of employee engagement, customer satisfaction and team productivity.

 

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Delivery of Production Management Service Quality for Project Delivery.

  • Productivity - maximize flow while controlling costs. Continuously improve the production management service.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Team selection/induction: Recruit best fit talent.
  • Building relationships: Build the personal connections that foster trust, commitment, and teamwork.
  • Team building: Encourage activities and dialogue to motivate team members to increase the overall performance of the team.
  • Coaching: Develop team members so they can perform and deliver the best possible results.
  • Employee assignments: Assign work to team members with clear expectations of quality, scope, time, resources and purpose.
  • Data: Ensure the team deliver accurate, relevant and timely data with insights to support improving quality, flow and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure team members understand the business value of project delivery and how production management contributes to the value.
  • Systems: Ensure the team manage project delivery systems and data to make them available, usable and understood by those delivering projects.
  • Support for project management processes: Ensure the processes, tools, and metrics that support project delivery are fit for purpose, available and communicated.
  • Task assignment & adjustment: Lead team by providing a clear articulation of direction and expectations; Control the level of work in progress to optimize flow for each direct report, adjusting to changing conditions.
  • Monitoring: Measure the team’s performance against organizational goals.
  • Continuous improvement: Ongoing improvement to the value delivered -- e.g. quality and flow of work.
  • Appraisal: Provide feedback on performance through-out the year.
  • De-selection: Remove team members from roles as appropriate.
  • Manage IT budgets to remain within commitments while achieving goals, as applicable.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
     

 

Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Director, Prodcution Management position:
 

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in computer science, engineering, business

administration or related discipline.

Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years Program/Project and/or Production Management experience.

Other:

  • Effective communication skills for large, multi-national audiences.
  • Management acumen – Solid understanding and demonstrated ability to:
    • Build and manage a high performing team.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including collaboration, influencing & aligning.
    • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
    • Relationship building                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         
  • Business acumen – Experience managing budgets, understanding of customer value.
  • Operational Performance – Understanding of and/or experience with Theory of Constraints (TOC).
  • Experience and/or understanding of Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM).
  • Experience using Exepron and Power BI.
