Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Director, Data Enablement and Operations to join our global Information and Data Management (IDM) team.  This is a remote position and can be located position can be located anywhere in the U.S. 

The Director, Data Enablement and Operations will be responsible for leading Data Operations across all domains. This is a business-facing role that requires leadership skills and a strong data management background from individuals who understand data, how to manage data operations, continuously optimize and automate processes, and effectively manage teams that span all the target data domains. In this role, you will be required to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across CRL business units. As the team leader, you are accountable and responsible for managing data operations and driving towards efficiency, effectiveness and stellar internal customer service.


Essential responsibilities of the Director, Data Enablement and Operations role include:
•    Lead data management and operational teams across business units and technical teams to identify data gaps and challenges, provide recommendations on closing gaps and address them through appropriate technology
•    Experience working with various business data owners and stakeholders on MDM, Data Strategy, Data Governance/Management and Data Quality implementations
•    Experience with MDM, automation, data governance, data quality, data cataloging, metadata, and/or other data management tools
•    Identify and define fit-for-purpose strategies to integrate Master and Reference data with other operational and analytical systems to leverage the such data efficiently and effectively across an enterprise
•    Implement master data management standards, enforce data governance procedures and ensure data integrity across multiple platforms
•    Expertise in implementing and overseeing governance models, industry best practices, data roles (data stewards, data owners, data custodians, etc.), and governance practices;
•    Proven background in managing key master domains such as Customer, Product, Materials, Supplier, Finance, HR and others
•    Prioritize roadmap for implementing MDM and other data management capabilities
•    Design, document and maintain data processes and flows across Master Data Management (MDM) and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
•    Collaborate with various technical teams and business users for development, QA and production support for MDM and other data management platforms

Job Qualifications


The following minimum qualifications are needed for the Director, Data Enablement and Operations role: 

•    Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent technical expertise.
•    Minimum 10 years of overall experience with hands-on data governance/data management principles within a Management Consulting or business operational environment
•    Knowledge and some working experience in with the following areas:
           - Manufacturing and/or Life Sciences industry experience (including SAP ERP solutions)
           - Data Design, Data Architecture or Big Data repositories

           - People management of a diverse data operations/management organization required
           - Working in operational support roles, including issue management resolution required
           - Data management, data governance, ideally working in a Life Sciences and/or B2B ecosystem
•    Working knowledge of data analysis, performance/operation auditing and metrics, and data analysis tools/SQL required
•    Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
•    Proven track record of driving change and teaching/motivating individuals to develop & implement new ways of thinking and doing business preferred
•    Experience with data catalog and data governance tools preferred
•    Experience with project management methodologies; Agile preferred
•    Ability to travel according to business site post-Covid restrictions (up to 10%)


The following are preferred qualifications for the Director, Data Enablement and Operations role: 
•    Experience automation, optimizing or re-engineering processes highly desired
•    Knowledge of Data Governance tools like Collibra and Alation
•    Knowledge of MDM tools like Reltio, Informatica, EnterWorks and/or SAP MDM
•    Knowledge of Data Cataloging and Quality tools

The Corporate Functions provide operational support across Charles River in areas such as Human Resources, Finance, IT, Legal, Sales, Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Corporate Development. They partner with their colleagues across the company to develop and drive strategies and to set global standards.
