Job Summary

Explora Biolabs a Charles River Company is looking for a Vivarium Supervisor to join our team located in Boston, MA.

What you will do!

In the Vivarium Supervisor role, you have the responsibility of overseeing animal care and management, you understand the importance of ensuring all staff follow SOPs. You set the example by consistently adhering to these protocols and effectively communicating their importance to your team. This helps ensure the well-being of the animals, the smooth functioning of the facility and the integrity of the research. You will also set clear goals for your staff members, prioritize their tasks and coordinate work schedules to maximize efficiency. In addition, maintain high standards of vivarium cleanliness and organization, provide new client facility tours and orientations, and perform technical and husbandry tasks as needed.


The Vivarium Supervisor will also maintain good working relationships with our clients, and work with them to resolve operational issues and concerns. You report all animal and personnel issues and concerns to the appropriate chain of command as well as assist in the training of personnel and other animal users. As part of your role, you also author and review program SOPs, interview potential applicants for open positions, and conduct disciplinary sessions. You conduct/participate in performance reviews, communicate animal health issues with veterinarians and alert them to emergencies, and assist in preparation for regulatory and routine facility inspections. In addition, you ensure that the facilities have adequate supplies for routine operations and report requests by clients for additional equipment. 


Who are we looking for?

A candidate that possesses a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or at least 3-5 years of experience working in an animal facility. Certified by AALAS as a Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) preferred.


The pay range for this position is $88-95K USD annually and offers relocation assistance. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
