We are seeking a Senior Assistant Scientist 2 for our High Resolution LC-MS group site located in Tranent.

 

The elucidation of chemical structures is a key function in the Chemistry Department at Charles River Laboratories, Edinburgh and one that is central to the full range of ADME and Environmental Fate studies that we provide to our Agrochemical and Pharmaceutical Sponsors.

The successful applicant with take responsibility for the analysis of novel drug and agrochemical metabolites formed in biological systems.  These projects require the application of selective extraction methods, chromatographic separation and high resolution accurate mass spectrometry. 

 

You will be highly organised, have an eye for detail and must be able to demonstrate proactive communication and passion for delivering scientific excellence.  Furthermore, extensive knowledge of wet chemistry and analytical techniques, combined with an ability to solve technical and scientific challenges is required. You will ideally have hands on experience with LC, tandem LC-MS/MS systems or high resolution LC-MS systems.  You will be educated to degree level in chemistry or closely related discipline.

The following are minimum requirements related to the Assistant Scientist position.

You will be highly organised, have an eye for detail and must have a passion for delivering scientific excellence.  An awareness of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and knowledge of wet chemistry & analytical techniques would be advantageous (although full training will be provided).  The ability to work as part of a team and to think critically to solve to solve technical and scientific challenges is required.  You will be educated to degree level in chemistry or life sciences.

 

Salary for this position is starting at £24,716.14 

Successful candidates will be appointed to the bottom of the pay band if they have no relevant experience. In exceptional circumstances where the candidate has relevant equivalent experience, this will be taken into consideration.
