Job Summary

Performs technical laboratory activities in support of client studies or procedures. Performs analysis of data for quality and completeness and determines if results are as expected. Records data in compliance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.

 

We are seeking a Laboratory Scientist for our Biologics group located in Tranent (close to Edinburgh). This role will initially be based in Tranent however at some point in 2019 the role will move to Heriot Watt University Research Park.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To set up a new 3500xL Genetic Analyser for DNA Sequencing
  • To use the Analyser for routine testing of recombinant microbial and mammalian cell banks to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • To design primer sets and analyse data using associated software
  • Compilation of data and write reports
  • Train staff in the use of the Analyser and associated software
  • Compile deviations and any associated documentation related to equipment functionality as required

 

The following are minimum requirements related to the Laboratory Scientist position

  • A biomedical, biology,  or biochemistry related degree or equivalent
  • Practical experience using the 3500xL Genetic Analyser or similar capilary machine
  • Experience with molecular or microbial  techniques and instrumentation
  • Some experience of GMP would be preferred although training will be provided


Salary banding for this position is £27339 - £32340.  Successful candidates will be appointed to the bottom of the pay band however  where the candidate has relevant equivalent experience, this will be taken into consideration.
