Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented graduate to join our High Resolution LC-MS group as an Assistant Scientist 1. The position is located at our Tranent site, just outside of Edinburgh. 

 

The elucidation of chemical structures is a key function in the Chemistry Department at Charles River Laboratories, Edinburgh and one that is central to the full range of ADME and Environmental Fate studies that we provide to our Agrochemical, Pharmaceutical and Animal Health Care Sponsors.

 

The successful applicant with take responsibility for the analysis of novel drug and agrochemical metabolites formed in biological systems.  These projects require the application of selective extraction methods, chromatographic separation and application of state-of-the-art high resolution mass spectrometry. 

 

The following are minimum requirements related to the Assistant Scientist position:

You will be a highly organised, have an eye for detail and must have a passion for learning and delivering scientific excellence.  An awareness of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and knowledge of wet chemistry & analytical techniques would be advantageous.  The ability to work as part of a team and to think critically to solve to solve technical and scientific challenges is required.  You will be educated to degree level in chemistry or very closely related discipline containing significant chemistry overlap.

 

You can expect to join a fast paced environment and one which will afford day to day variety and opportunity to learn the tasks you will undertake.  The successful candidate will join our company progression scheme during which time they will undertake both formal training courses and on the job training to facilitate personal and professional development.   

 

Salary for this position is £21,365.  Successful candidates will be appointed to the bottom of the pay band if they have no relevant experience.

In exceptional circumstances where the candidate has relevant equivalent experience, this will be taken into consideration.
