JOB SUMMARY

 

We are seeking a Lab Tech II for our Lab Production site located in Storrs, CT. The Lab Tech II will process SPF chicken embryos, cell cultures, animal products, and microbial cultures; produces antigens and reagents; prepare buffers, media, and solutions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with chickens and assist with animal husbandry .
  • Process SPF chicken embryos, cell cultures, animal products, and microbial cultures .
  • Produce antigens and reagents (viruses, mycoplasma and microbial organisms) .
  • Prepare media, buffers, and solutions .
  • Filter and processes antiserum .
  • Complete documentation for licensed products.
  • Packing and shipping lab reagents as required.
  • Perform housekeeping activities, including waste disposal and glassware preparation .
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain own training file.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The following are minimum requirements for the Laboratory Technician II position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and one (1) year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience.

 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with tissue cultures.
  • Degree in Animal Science or Biology.
