Job Summary
Head of Science Analytics will lead an integrated & matrixed team of scientists, data scientists, data product owners, analysts, and engineers, and be responsible for leading the innovation vision, strategy and execution of Charles River’s Science Analytics product development and data strategy. The successful candidate will be the subject matter expert in drug discovery and development for internal and external data team(s), the bridge between customer use cases and product development, and the champion for success. This person will also provide thought leadership and apply a curious appetite to answering progressive questions by leveraging available scientific data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Define the vision and strategy, including the product roadmap, for our Science Analytics platform of the future and aligning with business objectives around the Preclinical Data Innovation Platform governing data use and customer co-operation.
• Design and implement a data use plan in collaboration with the data, commercial and legal teams; champion progressive, data-as-an asset mindset internally and externally
• Act as a strategic partner to both external collaborators and internal business stakeholders with accountability for progression and development of the science analytics products and roadmap
• Liaise externally with customers on data consent updates and internally with data privacy officer and Legal
• Actively seek feedback from business stakeholders and relay it to the team
• Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships with both business and technical professionals, and to influence decision makers and stakeholders
• Have a product development mindset and a deep understanding of application use cases, and work with the data product owners, data engineering, data science, and science teams to align the product roadmap with the highest impact needs of the program
• Ability to effectively communicate and make technical information consumable to large, multi-national audiences; Able to explain technology applications in business terms
• Champion the science analytics products both internally and externally to foster alignment and drive adoption and continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle
• Effectively utilize internal/external networks to communicate with key stakeholders
• Accountable for ensuring that data generation is fit for purpose and will both drive the program forward and improve the platform throughout the lifecycle
• Operate and promote an environment where open, transparent communication is valued and trusted.

Job Qualifications
• Education: Master’s Degree, preferably in a life science, Data Science or related discipline. A PhD is a nice to have.
• Industry Experience: Deep knowledge of biology and chemistry intelligent scientific data management, visualization and analytics applications required; experience in Machine Learning (ML) & Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies preferred. It is preferred that candidates have experience working in companies of varying scale.
• A minimum of 12 or more years of drug discovery and development experience in a hands-on scientific role.
• A minimum of 5 or more years of experience leading delivery of AI/ML products focused on scientific drug discovery and development use cases.
• At least 10 years of experience in data science product management in the Biotech/Pharma industry; plus a proven track record of leading science analytics and data strategy in alignment with the overall company strategy.
• Executive leadership and influence: Experience presenting and influencing high level decision makers on enterprise-level strategic decisions and prioritization
• Operational Effectiveness: Leads by example- fostering strong "get it done" orientation and culture, including individual roll-up-your-sleeve contributions and continuous prioritization and execution
• Communication: Proven experience partnering with preclinical and clinical science leaders and defining narrative to educate them on emerging data-driven approaches
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Ability to negotiate and influence without authority
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An effective listener
• Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
