Job Summary


Execute task related to the preparation of tissue for microscopic evaluation.  This includes activities such as, recycling of solutions, solution preparations, and performance of some technical procedures.

We are looking for an Assistant Technician for our Histology team located in Senneville, QC.

The responsibilities of the position are:


  • Perform task in compliance with the standard operation procedures (SOP), good laboratory practices (GLP) and the health and safety rules.    

  • Perform some technical tasks (cover slipping of slide, 'embedding, cutting, processing, trimming etc.).

  • Prepare studies according to the information received from the team leaders and technical specialists

  • Prepare solutions (e.g. chrome alum, hematoxylin & eosin).

  • Maintain laboratory supplies (solutions, material).

  • Maintain the disposal or recycling of used solutions and dangerous material

  • Maintain the material and the laboratories clean and orderly (equipment, washing glassware, etc.).

  • Prepare material for shipping and archiving

  • File specimens

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.



The minimum requirements of the position are:

  • High School

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for

  • The specific education and experience listed above.


Work environment:

  • While working the duties of the job, the employee regularly wears personal protective equipment (lab coat, examination gloves, safety glasses, face shield, disposable mask, cartridge respirator safety shoes, etc.).
  • Regularly works with sharp objects.
  • Occasionally in contact with solvents
  • Regularly lift and move loads up to 205 liters or 400 pounds with a cart.
  • Requires physical fitness to perform various physical tasks for more than 2 hours per day.
