Job Summary

We have an opportunity for a motivated and pro-active individual to join the team at the Charles River Laboratories site in the UK. The main purpose will be to receive and receipt deliveries accurately and safely and ensure they reach the end user in a timely manner.  To provide lab support services as required either directly or as cover for others in the team. This person will be based at our Chesterford Research Park, Saffron Walden site with occasional need to travel to our Harlow, Essex site as well. 


                                                                                                                                                              
Main Tasks:
- To receive deliveries using safe handling practices according to material type. Receipt accurately on SAP/ERM and store appropriately for delivery to end users. 
- Using appropriate safe manual handling technique, unpack and store solvents and stores consumables in the appropriate storage location in timely fashion.
- Distribute goods daily to end users or to specific refrigeration areas.
- Notify staff promptly on the receipt of ‘Regulated’ goods (Controlled drugs, Radioisotopes, Products of Animal Origin etc.) and ensure they are collected promptly.
- Follow up with delivery agents and suppliers when incorrect, incomplete or damaged goods are received, passing on information to the - Procurement Team to action as appropriate
- Prepare lists of restock consumables to members of the procurement team to enable replenishment orders to be placed in good time, and to appropriate and cost effective levels.
- Keep stores and external storage areas clear of waste packaging and ensure material is disposed of in the correct manner.
- Book out inventory stores consumables daily to departmental cost centres.
- Restock Chemistry dry store, ensuring appropriate levels to maintain efficient working.
- Provide flexible cover as required for glass washing service.
- Assist as required in set up and breakdown of site meeting rooms.
- Where training allows, assist with packing and shipping of outgoing shipments.
- Work flexibly to assist any other teams to maintain efficient working throughout the site, should need arise.

 

Requirements:
- Educated to GCSE level in English and Maths as a minimum 
- Preevious experience (1 - 2 years+) of working in a similar environment: warehouse based or postal/parcel based ideal 
- Strong problem solving skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and approach problems in a logical and calm manner  
- Track record of using processing systems such as SAP, with confidence in using and learning new technologies 
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong time management and organisational skills also essential
