Job Summary

Charles River is seeking an exceptional, ambitious, innovative, and highly motivated lab-based analyst to work within the Purification Sciences team at our Saffron Walden site, analysing and purifying a diverse range of Medicinal Chemistry small molecules to advance drug discovery projects for our clients.

 

Responsibilities:  
•    Provide analytical and purification support for medicinal chemists across multiple sites.
•    You will use your troubleshooting and problem-solving expertise to ensure instrument issues do not delay client projects. 
•    You will be involved in the development of new technologies within the Purification Sciences team.
•    You will interact with client project teams and be a point of contact for one or more projects.
•    With a keen interest in continuous improvement, you will have the opportunity to identify and implement workflow improvements. 
•    Training of less experienced team members. 

 

Candidate profile
We are seeking a Principal Technician who will have several years industrial experience within the field of chromatography. You will be educated ideally to a degree level in a related discipline and have demonstrated a drive for applying technical expertise to troubleshooting chromatography and workflow challenges. Adept in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will need to possess the flexibility required to work in a goal-oriented environment, as well as:

•    A laboratory based practical background with significant experience using and developing automated purification protocols and/or other analytical chemistry techniques including UPLC/ HPLC/ SFC/ MS/ NMR instrumentation. Experience of; MassLynx, Chemstation, Chromscope and/or Trilution would be advantageous. 
•    Excellent communication skills: these will be essential to engage our customers and colleagues whilst working in a matrix environment.     
•    Ability to work well under pressure, independently and to tight deadlines. 
•    Strong organization and time management skills alongside an inbuilt flexibility to adapt to change.
•    A track record of dynamic workload prioritisation, problem solving and multitasking.
•    Identifying new technologies and creative approaches to drive forward effectiveness at a department level. 
•    To operate in a safe manner always and to comply with CRL site-based guidelines.
•    To work within the framework of the Charles River core values of Collaborate, Lead, Own, Care
