At Charles River, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of experienced and enthusiastic scientists in a motivated and supportive environment. You will rapidly develop lab skills relevant to your project, as well as working closely with colleagues in multidisciplinary, collaborative teams to deliver results to our clients. In addition to developing your practical skills, you will have opportunities within areas such as presentation skills, scientific writing and operational and continuous improvement initiatives, whilst learning about the drug discovery process in a fast-moving and dynamic Contract Research Organization.


You will be performing in vitro assays or bioanalysis to assess the DMPK profile of client compounds across a range of novel drug targets and multiple therapeutic areas. In vitro, you will evaluate compounds across a range of DMPK assays assessing physicochemical properties, metabolism, distribution, drug-drug interactions or safety, based on project specific requirements and issues. You will also have the opportunity to undertake the bioanalysis of pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) samples to define the PK profile of project compounds and understand PK/PD relationships. In addition, working with experienced DMPK scientists, you will develop your DMPK knowledge to advise multidisciplinary project teams which compounds have the most suitable profile for progression to further studies, and work with medicinal chemists to define the SAR for individual chemical series.

Your Profile

  • Current positions are available for 2019 in Biology and DMPK
  • Ideally, you are on track to achieve a 2:1 or above in your degree (or completing an MSc) and have undertaken an industrial placement
  • You would like a career discovering new medicines for the future
  • You are an effective communicator and team player
  • You have good organisation and time management skills
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK
