We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join our multi-disciplinary team as Associate Director, DMPK at our Cambridge site in the UK.  The ideal candidate for this role will have demonstrated DMPK scientific and strategic leadership skills and a passion for developing people.  You should be an effective collaborator as you will interact with colleagues across disciplines, across Charles River companies and with existing and potential clients.   You will be influential within your own discipline and a positive role model across disciplines, who proactively manages performance and development of direct and indirect reports.

You will need

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in coaching and motivating your team whilst mentoring across disciplines to develop others.
  • To be an effective team player; with the confidence to stand up for what you believe in whilst listening to others to collaborate effectively with your peers.
  • An interest in new technologies and approaches, a willingness to innovate and help define the future direction of the department.
  •  An understanding of the importance of identifying and implementing efficiencies to help us deliver the right data at the right time.
  • The ability to make effective decisions for yourself and multiple teams to positively impact project and departmental goals.
  • A demonstrated record of delivering DMPK, PK/PD support to projects with the ability to successfully troubleshoot scientific and business related issues.
  • Excellent communication skills; these will be essential to engage and inspire whilst working in a matrix environment.  Facilitate cross-site involvement in projects as required.
  • To ensure resources and finances are managed appropriately.
  • To collaborate with colleagues in Business Development to prepare proposals and present to potential new clients. Promote high scientific visibility of CRL Discovery capabilities within CRL and externally.
  • To be positive role model and value the importance of maintaining a positive workplace culture through empowering and engaging staff.

Candidate profile

  • A minimum of a first degree in a relevant bioscience discipline
  • Extensive DMPK based experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a proven track record in advancing discovery projects to development candidate selection
  • Broad experience of the management, mentoring and scientific direction of scientists ideally in a matrix environment
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of modern day approaches used in DMPK covering in vitro, in vivo and computational tools used to support drug discovery projects
  • Background in working closely with colleagues in chemistry, biology, in vivo  DMPK and pharmacology units
  • Ability to communicate confidently with partners/colleagues via teleconferences, presentations and written reports
  • A dynamic and flexible approach towards achieving partner-based objectives and meeting challenging deadlines
