We are presently seeking for an Associate Director , IT Site Services for our site in Edinburgh, Scotland. 



Key responsibilities of the Associate Director , IT Site Services include:

  • Leverage global IT processes, institutionalizing within the site and localizing only for specific business area or country requirements/regulations.
  • Align local site organization to provide the following: implementation/receivership readiness; scheduling, requirements gathering and input to prioritization; training to raise the skills of all users, help and support for all users.  Investigates, analyses, and recommends cost effective solutions and processes related to end-user support, help desk management, IT operations, computer validation, and training.  Collaborates with other IT site leads and IT business area lead to leverage solutions across businesses.
  • Ensure participation in and sponsorship of the IT strategy and encourage end-users to participate in the strategy.  Ensure site requirements are reflected in IT solutions developed/procured by global functions, and ensure that site IT staff are focused on supporting end-users per agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Design, plan, and coordinate work teams.  Review, analyze and implement new processes to improve efficiency, coordinating with other IT site leads to ensure consistency across global sites.
  • Provide feedback in the creation/update of and leverage the common change management process, including training and progress measurement. 
  • Leverage standard IT resource planning and career development processes and tools, including training plans with site management.
  • Leverage collaboration, knowledge management tools to improve communication effectiveness across the enterprise.
  • Understand and advocate for site requirements and IT investment.
  • Act as liaison and advocate for the sites/business area across global IT.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all IT resources located at sites for which this role has responsibility, even if they are not direct reports.
  • Partner with and regularly seek feedback from site management to ensure that IT is meeting site needs.
  • Direct activities of assigned group(s) to ensure optimum performance of the group/function.
  • Responsible for personnel management activities such as: scheduling, personnel actions (hiring, promotions, transfers, etc.), training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews.
  • In partnership with IT leadership, develop short- and long-range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and succession plans.
  • Integrate activities with those of other major organizational units (e.g. segments, departments, functions).
  • Develop and recommend departmental budget and authorize expenditures.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of departmental training programs, including orientation.
  • Support the policy of equal employment opportunity through affirmative action in personnel actions.
  • Ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements and to departmental policies, practices and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols].
  • Perform management duties for the site as delegated by the testing facility management, as appropriate.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.


Minimum qualifications associated with the Associate Director , IT Site Services role are:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in business or computer sciences or engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience, including IT leadership and/or management experience.  
  • Experience in Life Sciences, Biopharma or related industry preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • MOS, MCP, MCSA, and/or MCSE or equivalent is preferred.
