Job Summary

These individuals will support and improve the animal welfare according to the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) rules.

We are seeking for two Animal Welfare Specialists for our Toxicology division site located in Montreal (Senneville).

•Monitoring, investigating and reporting of animal welfare incidents
•To be confidential when investigating and reporting animal welfare incident
•Use of internal software for reporting animal welfare incident
•Assist and/or prepare animal care SOP’s
•Lead or assist to various meeting concerning animal welfare, including a monthly meeting with IACUC chair, Operational Manager, Clinical Vet and HR representative to review monthly events and alerts
•Verify and analyze some technical functions to maintain or improve the quality.
•Establish a proactive culture by being active in observing the techniques and equipment used in the daily activities of the animal facility.
•Identify and analyze incidents types or potential problems and assist the appropriate personnel in establishing and implementing the appropriate solutions.
•Be responsible of the initial animal welfare training and annual refresher
•Overseeing usage and size of the spares and training colonies
•Participate to continuous improvement projects in connection with animal welfare.
•Participate to technical activities when required be operational needs
•Ensure the integrity of the studies and fulfill the regulatory agencies requirements by performing the activities according to the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) rules.

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Animal Welfare Specialist position:

Education: High school
•Experience: 5 to 6 years
•An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
