Salary D.O.E + On Call Allowance 

 

Mechanical & Steam Engineer

 

 

Rota - 35 Hrs per week

 

Monday - Thursday 8.00 am - 4.30 pm

Friday 8.00 am - 1.00 pm

 

Out of hours callouts - rostered - 1 in 4 weeks (Paid at additional rate) 

 

* Please not due to nature of role flexibilty surrounding core hours is essential.


Overall responsibility

 

To be responsible for site steam systems and the maintenance, modification of all site mechanical services and equipment as directed by the Facilities Manager. To carry out mechanical repairs, tests and reports as and when necessary. 


Main duties/responsibilities

 

  • To carry out mechanical and steam system repairs and improvements to Company properties, both on a responsive basis and strategic basis. 
  • To carry out Mechanical tests and reports on steam Boilers/plant, company property and carry out the necessary repairs. 
  • To maintain a high stranded of both safety and efficiently on all steam plant.     
  • To promote customer satisfaction through the PPM system and improvements process. 
  • To advise the Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Manager re. future mechanical maintenance requirements, and any changes to Mechanical practice and legislation. 
  • Use Mechanical/Steam skills in an effective manner to complete tasks as detailed by the PPM system.
  • Repair defective systems or components as and when necessary both inside and outside of battier rooms.
  • Monitor mechanical stores to ensure that sufficient stock levels are held to accomplish tasks as laid down by the PPM system.
  • Provide on call cover to ensure correct operation of systems and equipment out of normal working hours.
  • Assist with training of new team members on department procedures.
  • Complete specific tasks or projects as requested by the Facilities Manager or Operations Manager.
  • Promote good work practices and enhance working relationships.
  • Assist with the maintenance of an efficient Quality Management System.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to, liaising with the H&S officer where appropriate.
  • Ensure a safe and tidy work area.
  • Provide cover for other members of the team as and when necessary including the on call rota.

 

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

 

  • At a minimum City& Guilds Mechanical installation
  • 5 years’ work experience
  • Steam qualification / or equivalent time served  
  • Some IT literacy 
  • Experience of working in a busy environment to tight deadlines.
  • Maintaining Steam Boilers 
  • Planned preventive maintenance
  • HVAC 
  • LTHW Boilers
  • Some controls experience
  • Installation experience
  • Fault finding
