Responsible and accountable for the UK business territory for Research Models and Services and achievement of short- and long-range commercial success, operational objectives, policies, budgets and strategic plans developed with the RMS Core Leadership Team.  Ensures business continuity and facility compliance with company strategy and policy, and with all country laws and regulations, including financial, employment and animal welfare.




•    Lead the RMS UK team and associated remote colleagues, communicating and exemplifying the business vision and values locally. 
•    Direct and support Business Development suitable to achieve business goals of the RMS UK business in coordination with European Sales team 
•    Execute talent development plans including coaching, mentoring and training/Manage talent development in alignment with organizational needs, & corporate policies.
•    Set effective goals, monitor and enhance performance of direct and matrix reports.
•    Partner with Human Resources in escalation of performance management and the associated company-defined processes
•    Direct all operating activities at Charles River UK (CRUK) , including but not limited to production schedules and required materials, equipment, and workforce..
•    Develop and monitor site operating budgets and associated cost controls, including payroll, materials, supplies, and capital expenditures. Authorize expenditures in accordance with budgets and business performance.
•    Ensure  compliance to Biosecurity Imperatives through translation of all mandatory requirements into local SOPs, supported by continuous training of all related personnel
•    Assure compliance with animal welfare regulations and policy 
•    Monitor quality of products/services, maintaining accredited quality programs such as ISO.
•    Oversee the provision of effective physical Security appropriate to the business needs. 
•    Ensure that operations run efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.  Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity and increase efficiencies.
•    Direct development and communication of systems, SOPs, policies and procedures.  
•    In partnership with RMS Core Leadership Team, develop short- and long-range operating and financial objectives, organizational structure, and staffing plans. 
•    Foster a caring culture and recommend and implement programs to ensure employee welfare and maintenance of a highly engaged team. 




•    Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Animal Science, Business Administration or related discipline.  .
•    Experience:  Ten or more years related experience and/or training.
•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
•    Certification/Licensure:  None.
•    Other:  Must be able to write and speak fluently in English. The ability to speak and write/ read in at least one other language is preferable.
