Job Summary

 

We are seeking a Scientist I Virology for Biologics Testing Solutions at our Malvern site.

 

The following are minimum requirements related to the Scientist I Virology position.

 

BASIC SUMMARY: 

 

Serve as a scientist in the Virology Department performing assigned research duties which may include assay optimization, study management, interpretation and

reporting of study data and ensuring the regulatory compliance of these projects.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist in the review of existing procedures to identify areas for process optimization. 
  • Investigate and develop new methodologies. Participate in novel assay design and implementation. 
  • Research innovative equipment and processes for possible inclusion in existing assays.
  • Collaborate with others to coordinate interdepartmental projects. 
  • Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel, as needed.
  •  Function as a point of contact for the planning and execution of client related studies. Job duties will include proposal management, protocol generation, study scheduling, study performance and reporting.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Education: Ph.D. level candidate with Virology expertise is required.
  • Experience: Experience in the contract testing or pharmaceutical industry is preferred, as is a working knowledge of the following: virus propagation and titration; co-cultivation, retroviral, plaque and adventitious virus assays; applied knowledge of gene therapy; statistics as it applies to scientific data evaluation.
  • Certification/Licensure: None 
  • Other: Full understanding of regulatory requirements of study types assigned, as well as testing facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Proficiency in the use of standard software including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. Familiarity with standard laboratory calculations and interpretation.
