Job Summary

 

Define and manage business requirements to identify suitable technical solutions that benefit our users and customers. As a member of a small and flexible, team, this IT Business Analyst will also perform light Project Manager and Test Lead duties on some projects, as well as some ongoing user/application support tasks.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•    Prioritize requirements from various stakeholders. Facilitate requirements gathering and process mapping workshops for projects
•    Produce relevant process/requirements documentation in the form of process maps, user stories, requirements lists. These may be in traditional Office documents, or logged in IT project management software such as Azure DevOps, Jira, etc. 
•    Work with technical resources (CRL IT and third party partners) and development team to ensure that they understand the specifications
•    Work with Super Users to develop test scenarios and write test scripts 
•    Assist with the creation of training material as needed (user FAQs, short videos, etc)
•    Support Super Users and System Admins in troubleshooting support tickets for applications such as the Dotmatics ELN. Perform regression testing on version upgrades and bug fixes
•    Light Project Management tasks such as arranging meetings, taking notes, organizing files, and tracking team actions for small projects
 

Job Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent, preferably in a scientific-related discipline. Lab experience a plus 
•    Experience:  Five+ years industry experience, and relevant project work
•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
•    Certification/Licensure: None.
•    Other:  Flexible attitude is a must! Must be able to influence resources/staff without direct reporting relationships. Ability to multi-task, excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail required. Must possess analytical thinking and problem solving skills and be able to prioritize and re-evaluate priorities as situations change. Working knowledge of computer software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS PowerPoint and databases) required. 
•    Travel: Periodic travel for key project milestones may be required, not to exceed 10%. Trips will be scheduled well in advance to suit family needs. Virtual alternatives will be offered when possible.
