Job Summary


We are seeking a Project Manager for our Insourcing Solutions site located Houston, TX.


The following are responsibilities related to the Project Manager Position:


Plan, organize and direct the activities of animal care program. Oversees and manages a staff of management, administrative or technical support personnel, animal care technicians, animal facility attendants, and collaborates with the client veterinary and administrative support staff.  Maintain performance within the customer's varied animal care environments consistent with and according to company standards for the Client contract.  You will work with managers and staff to implement KPIs, and be compliant with state, local and federal regulations for the care and maintenance of laboratory animals in accordance with Animal Welfare Act and the “Guide for the Care and Use of Lab.  Assigns duties to management team and subordinate staff.   Actively interacts with Client Management facility veterinarian(s) and investigators as required to respond to requests, inquiries, complaints and to provide technical assistance.  Responsible for personnel management activities:  scheduling, personnel actions (hiring, promotions, transfers, etc.), training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews.  Create action plans to manage tasks, provide managers with the proper direction to perform.  Provides quality assurance to include animal health surveillance, monitoring of the effectiveness of facility sanitation, cage washing and autoclaving procedures, monitoring of incoming animal shipments for container integrity and animal health, monitor the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), internal facility reports for monitoring deviations from pre-established parameters, other quality assurance services as deemed necessary.  Oversees technical training and supervisors’ development of course content and materials for training and continuing education of the animal care staff to achieve AALAS certification. 


The following are minimum qualifications related to the Project Manager position:


Education:  Bachelor of Science in Animal Science or related discipline .   
Experience:  Six (6) years of experience as a facility manager in a multiple species and multiple labor category animal facility with 6 or more years of supervisory experience. 
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level (LATG) and CMAR preferred.
