Job Summary

We are pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for a talented, highly motivated Synthetic Chemist to provide scientific impact within the Scale-up Chemistry group at our drug discovery facilities in Harlow, UK. In addition to providing high quality synthetic chemistry, the role will see you acting as a scientific mentor for junior scientists within the Chemistry department. Furthermore, you will be working with a diverse range of global organisations, providing scientific leadership of scale up chemistry campaigns to support integrated drug discovery programs. 


Main responsibilities
•    This will be a predominantly laboratory-based role, working closely with the wider Chemistry teams
•    Optimise medicinal chemistry routes to allow for the safe delivery of advanced building blocks and APIs at multi-gram to kilo scale using large scale equipment
•    Plan synthetic routes and perform literature searches to support on-going projects and BD proposals
•    Transfer of technical knowledge to third party GMP CMOs
•    Mentoring of junior staff 


Key requirements
•    A first degree in chemistry
•    5+ years of experience of synthesis on 1g to kg scale with a clear focus on synthetic chemistry process route optimisation and development (PR&D)
•    Exceptional problem solving skills, sound scientific judgement and high quality decision making
•    Strong track record of providing scientific impact in projects
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills 
•    A positive role model with a ‘can-do’ attitude, who promotes best practice.
•    A dynamic and flexible approach towards achieving client-based objectives 
•    Ability to prepare high quality scientific documents to challenging deadlines.
