Job Summary

Charles River are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Formulation Scientist to bring passion and creative thinking to our Pharmaceutical Sciences team based in Harlow . Working in a newly established team, you will have the opportunity to influence strategic direction of this rapidly expanding area of business. 

The role combines lab-based responsibilities with expanding the formulation capabilities of the team, ideal for an ambitious and inquisitive scientist looking to make that next step in their career.

Working within interdisciplinary teams, in the UK and internationally, the successful candidate will provide expert insight to our drug discovery programs, delivering effective formulation solutions for customers worldwide.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

•    Knowledge of preformulation techniques (solubility, dissolution and physicochemical characterization) and their application to formulation development.
•    A strong technical understanding of formulation approaches for sparingly soluble compounds; namely amorphous solid dispersion, lipids and nano-suspensions
•    Familiarity with at least one other dosage route would be beneficial (i.e. topical, parenteral or inhalation)
•    A basic understanding of Pharmacokinetics and/or solid state characterisation would be beneficial
•    The ability to communicate complex scientific data to internal and external stakeholders
•    Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
•    The ability and desire to mentor junior members of the team
•    3+ years’ experience within a formulation development team, likely gained in a CRO environment
