Animal Care Technician II- BSL4

The Animal Caretaker II shall have an AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification or become certified within one year of hire and have one year of experience working in alaboratory animal facility performing animal husbandry duties for large animals. Animal caretakers must have demonstrated knowledge and skill in handling animals. Animal caretakers must be capable of recognizing the appearance of normal animals, discern abnormalities, and be able to maintain a neat and clean microenvironment and macro environment. Personnel must have the physical strength and dexterity to handle fifty pound bags of feed and bedding, cages, racks, pans, carts, dollies and other equipment. These persons must have some knowledge of detergent-disinfectant usage and operating knowledge of sanitation and sterilization equipment including autoclaves, automated cage washing machines and conveyors, bottle fillers, bedding dump stations, etc.

Ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and one year related animal care and handling experience in a BSL4 environment and demonstrated successful performance in cagewash facility operations.
