Job Summary

We are seeking an Internal Controls Analyst for our Global Internal Controls (GIC) Team located in Riccarton, Edinburgh.

GIC’s role is to facilitate the design, implementation, and on-going optimization of Charles River’s global financial controls in order to help ensure:

    • Safeguarding of company assets
    • Completeness/accuracy of financial statements and related disclosures (SOX 404 requirements)
    • Manage risk and foster efficient and effectiveness of operations

Acting as a trusted advisor, you will obtain a deep understanding of CRL processes and collaborate to drive efficiency efforts through:

  • Daily interaction\advisory to control owners
  • Routine process\control walkthroughs
  • Embedding ourselves in: finance transformations,  system implementations, CFO efficiency Initiatives
  • Building partnerships and increasing collaboration with Internal Audit and IT partners


The following are minimum requirements related to the Internal Controls Analyst position.

  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Extensive experience of working on SOX Audits and/or SOX programs.
  • Experience of internal control design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience of performing Risk Assessments.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Formal Accounting qualification preferred, but not essential (dependent on experience)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data privacy/protection regulations
  • Knowledge and experience in Governance, Risk, and Control (GRC) frameworks, approaches, tools, methodologies (i.e., COBIT, COSO, RISK IT, ISO 2700(X), etc.)
  • Experience in Access Management; Segregation of Duties (SOD)
  • Experience in SDLC; Change Management; Configuration Management; Patch Management
  • Experience writing, implementing, and measuring compliance with IT policies I standards I guidelines across a variety of IT-related subject matters
  • Self-starter; adaptable to change
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, deliverables, and stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and verbal and written communication skills


 The salary for this position is £50,000 - £54,000 per annum.
