Charles River Early Discovery is seeking an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated lab-based Senior Scientist to work within our Purification Sciences team. We are based within the Small Molecule Drug Discovery division at our Saffron Walden site.

You will be working closely within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment analysing and purifying a diverse range of small molecules to advance drug discovery projects for our clients.

 

 

What You'll Be Doing

 

  • Deliver high quality analytical and purification data to support the progression of compounds across multiple sites.

  • Develop customised chromatographic methodologies for challenging compounds.

  • Demonstrate strategic awareness and strong scientific knowledge to help evolve department to provide future capabilities.

  • Positive role model and supervisor of junior colleagues.

  • Identify areas for improving efficiency within the team and division.

 

Essential Skills and Experience

 

  • A strong scientific and practical background in achiral and chiral automated purification services / UPLC / HPLC / SFC / NMR / Mass Spectrometry instrumentation.

  • Hands on approach to troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment. 

  • Knowledge of MassLynx, Chemstation, Chromscope and / or Trilution would be advantageous. 

  • Experience of scale up from analytical to preparative chromatography.

  • Proven track record of implementing new technologies and creative approaches to increase effectiveness, engaging support, and promoting at a division level. 

  • Enthusiastic approach to mentoring of junior team members-providing scientific input to guide purification experiments and data interpretation. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • BSc or higher in an analytical, chemical or related scientific field (pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences etc).
