Job Summary

We are seeking a Project Manager 3 - Aquatics Facility Manager for our Insourcing Solutions site in Bethesda, MD. This position is offering a $4,000 signing bonus.

 

The responsibilities related to the Project Manager 3 are:



•    Provides management oversight and support to all staff levels; conducts meetings with staff to informed of current/future projects.
•    Trains and mentors project managers; evaluating productivity and communication between task requirements and managers. 
•    Manages assigned staff to ensure the proper inventory, care, feeding and delivery of animals, sanitation of the equipment and facilities, the procurement and storage of supplies and the maintenance of related equipment and facilities. 
•    Oversees and/or schedules the maintenance of the facility and all equipment.
•    Leads troubleshooting of aquatic support equipment, monitoring software, and facility infrastructure.
•    Leads operational development and advancement efforts which improve animal welfare and staff efficiency by finding/creating devices or modifying/improving techniques.   
•    Establishes specifications for the selection and purchase of equipment.
•    Participates in facility design and construction meetings, reviews/approves submissions and construction contract modifications; participate in contract negotiations during annual re-bid. 
•    Develop staffing support, animal care weekend and holiday schedule.
•   Monitors performance of employees and conducts periodic performance reviews; investigates personnel problems and develop performance improvement plans, counseling and disciplinary actions. 
•    Conducts or participates in interviews of applicants for open positions and is actively involved in personal investigations and outcomes.
•    Orients new personnel with facility and company policies, work rules and guidelines.
•    Prepares and submits required written records, charts, logs and inventories as requested by your supervisor or customer. 
•    Ensures that all contract deliverables are met.
•    Oversight and Review of the developments, writing and implementing standard operating procedures for the care and enrichment of laboratory animals and the operation of the facility. 
•    Interacts with client representatives to facilitate the resolution of problems related to the allocation of space, use of equipment, efficient use of personnel, diagnosis of and control of disease, provisions of animal care and adequate veterinary care.
•    Oversees training and continuing education of the staff to achieve AALAS certification; assist in assessing training needs (develop and present).
•    Oversees procurement needs of equipment and supplies to include acquisition and reporting requirements. 

Job Qualifications

  • Education: BS in Biological Science or related Science required.
  • Experience:  Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in a large scope aquatics facility to include staff and project management responsibility.
  • Certification/Licensure:  AALAS Certification at the LATG level may be required based on education/experience.
