Job Summary

We are seeking a Veterinary Technician for our Insourcing Solutions site in Atlanta, GA.

The following are the responsibilities of the Veterinary Technician:

  • Reviews, comprehends and complies with all SOP's and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area.  Cares for and maintains laboratory animals in accordance with Animal Welfare Act, the “Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, CDC policies and guidelines and other applicable regulations and policies.
  • Works closely with Resident/Clinical Veterinarian(s) to perform daily health assessments of laboratory animals in the colony.  Provides animal treatments as instructed by Resident/Clinical Veterinarian(s).
  • Performs in house animal sampling (blood and tissue removal) as part of the internal health surveillance program and the bi-annual physical exams and TB placements.
  • Provides technical support, e.g. animal handling and restraint, oral administration, identification, injections, blood collection, TB placement, surgical preparation, pre-, peri- and post-operative support, euthanasia and assisting with research procedures as directed.
  • Provides training to staff as directed.
  • Actively interacts with customers as required to resolve customer requests, inquiries, and complaints and to provide technical assistance.
  • Prepares and submits written reports, charts, and logs as requested.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of animal clinical cases as required by Institute and facility.
  • Provides quality assurance to support areas as assigned. 
  • Monitors environmental parameters and maintains written records, including room temperatures, light cycles and sanitation.  Reports problems to the building maintenance department.


The following are the qualifications for the Veterinary Technician:

  • Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent college level program preferred.  
  • Experience:  Minimum of two to three years’ animal care and technical experience required.  
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for certification below.
  • Certification/Licensure:  Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification required. Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) within one year of eligibility.
